Rivet Radio plays personalized audio news and information by bringing users a mix of local, national, and world news based on their interests, listening history, location and more. Users decide what types of stories they want and the app creates the perfect listening experience.

In the car, on the train, in the gym, or at home – users listen the best stories about the subjects they’re interested in. They can easily skip, save, or share any story in their playlist. The app’s algorithms learn what users like and give them more of it over time. Rivet will also automatically update users on stories or developments by prioritizing new episodes in their playlist.

BACKGROUND

Rivet Radio approached me early into their venture with a vague idea about bringing personalized audio news to people around the globe. Using the entire spectrum of user-centered design methods, I created their brand identity, user experience, various mobile, automotive and home user interfaces, and helped them along their way with investor relations, marketing and sales support.

Rivet's mobile app was key to proving the company's concept of personalized audio news delivery – and I was the essential design lead advancing its concept, feature set, user experience, design, implementation and evolution.

Design guidelines

A typical output that you can expect from me for an app are design guidelines. They help implementation and development efforts by giving clear design guidance across a wide array of topics including colors, typography, layout and grids, positioning and sizing, animations, workflows, image and video integration, iconography and screen design.

IMAGE ARTIFACTS

Beyond the research, ideation, design, prototyping and documentation efforts, I typically generate all image artifacts for your projects to minimize hiccups during implementation. In case of an app, these might include resolution-specific images for iOS, Android or other destination platform.
